KNOWLEDGE BASE
Everything you need to know about Spravato.
What is Spravato®?
Who may be considered?
Spravato® is the brand name for esketamine, a prescription nasal spray that affects the brain differently from traditional antidepressants. It is FDA-approved for treatment-resistant depression in adults, either by itself or with an oral antidepressant. It is also approved with an oral antidepressant for depressive symptoms in adults with major depressive disorder and acute suicidal thoughts or behavior.
Spravato may be considered for eligible adults after a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and review of previous depression treatments, current medications, health history, symptoms, and treatment goals. Not everyone is an appropriate candidate, and an evaluation does not guarantee treatment.
